چکیده

Introduction Variations of renal arteries occur frequently in general population with a reported prevalence of about 28–30% [1]. Multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT) angiography is a fast, reliable, non-invasive, cost effective, preferable imaging modality for comprehensive evaluation of renal vascular anatomy as it depicts exquisite anatomical details [2–4]. Two types of numerical variations of renal artery are encountered: multiple renal arteries and early prehilar branching into segmental arteries. Multiple renal arteries are of two types: hilar which enter hilum along with main renal artery; and polar, which enter the renal parenchyma directly from the capsule [5]. Variant origin of renal artery is also seen where the main renal artery or extra renal arteries arise from superior mesenteric, inferior mesenteric or common iliac arteries.

Multiple renal arteries: variations demonstrated by multidetector computed tomography angiography.

OBJECTIVE To present a case of a rare variation of the renal artery and multiple (7) renal arteries by multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) angiography. CLINICAL PRESENTATION AND INTERVENTION A 36-year-old male patient was admitted to our hospital as a potential living donor for renal transplantation. An MDCT angiography was performed using a 16-detector row CT scanner to obtain a detaile...

Congenital solitary kidney with multiple renal arteries: case report using MDCT angiography.

A congenital solitary kidney with multiple renal arteries is a rare congenital abnormality that can occur in the presence of multiple other anomalies. We describe an atypical case of a right congenital solitary kidney with three renal arteries (RA) one main RA and two additional renal arteries in a 75-year-old woman with uterine didelphys. The main RA had an intraluminal diameter larger than th...

Anatomical Evaluation of Renal Arteries and Veins in Kidney Donors by CT Angiography

Abstract Background: Renal transplantation (RT) is the transplantation of a kidney into a patient with end-stage renal disease and has become the treatment of choice for most patients with end-stage renal disease. The knowledge of renal vascular variations is of a great importance for the surgeons who approach the kidneys from the retroperitoneal o...

A Rare Variation of Hepatic Arteries (Michels Type IV): MDCT Angiographic Findings.

Recently, evaluation of hepatic artery variations has become increasingly important as liver transplantation from live donors gains in popular. Many diagnostic tools can be used to evaluate hepatic artery anatomy. Multi-detector computed tomography angiography (MDCTA) is one these methods. In this case report, we represent MDCTA findings of Michel type IV variation, which is a very rare conditi...

Role of Multidetector Computed Tomography for Evaluation of Living Kidney Donors

BACKGROUND Kidney transplantation from living donors has been increased recently. Preoperative evaluation of living donor is important to select the appropriate kidney for transplantation and to decrease donor surgical complications. OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to compare the accuracy of the use of multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) to evaluate vascular anatomy in living kidney...
